I received my undergraduate degree from the University of California at Los Angeles, graduating cum laude. I then took time off, traveled and worked as a school teacher, all of which would provide me with invaluable lessons that still apply to my life as a physician.
I attended medical school at the University of Southern California, Keck School of Medicine, in Los Angeles and completed residency in General Psychiatry at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. I was honored to receive the Judd Marmor Award for Excellence in Clinical Practice at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and was chosen as the Outstanding Resident by the Southern Calfornia Psychiatric Society. I am Board Certified in Psychiatry and Neurology and completed training in Intensive Short Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP).
In addition to my work in private practice, I am a Clinical Assistant Professor at USC Keck School of Medicine, and have lectured at the Cedars-Sinai Department of Psychiatry. I have worked as a Research Physician and in this capacity, I oversaw the testing of new medications, their efficacy and their effects on the human body. I served as the Principal Investigator and/or Sub-Investigator on clinical trials studying the effects of psychotropic medications involved in the treatment of a wide range of psychiatric disorders.
I believe it is important that psychiatrists are actively involved in understanding both the biological and psychological forces that shape who we are as human beings. I feel I am uniquely situated in this regard and believe that this is what has lead to my success as a psychiatrist.
I am fluent in English, Spanish, and Farsi.
